Fireback

A fireback has the main function of protecting the wall at the back of the fireplace. Historically, this was very significant as walls were made old-fashioned materials such as daub (a mud and straw mixture coating interwoven wooden wattles), brick or soft stone. They help to reduce the quantity of fuel used and throw heat out into your room.

About our Fireback Range

A fireback is a great option for increasing the efficiency of your fire. Wood fires in particular have low efficiency. For householders who enjoy the atmosphere of a crackling wood fire these simple but effective products helps to minimise this problem. Generally, the thicker the fireback, the longer and softer the radiative effect that is created. Our firebacks are available in Fondu and Clay in a range of sizes to fit your fireplace.

An important note on product suitability:

Fondu – Made up of high illuminous cement and refractory materials can be fired up to 1000°C and represents great value!
Clay – Pure clay product can be fired up to 1100°C from fireclay made in China. If you are planning on having a large open fire every day then clay fireback would last longer.
